Dr. Cohen

Dr. Cohen began his medical career as a paramedic at Grady hospital in 1980. After receiving his degree in microbiology from the University of Georgia in 1982 he then went to Emory University School of Medicine, receiving his medical degree in 1986.

This next three years were spent at ORMC earning his specialty in emergency medicine.

After 4 years in the Air Force, he came back to Atlanta and has practiced emergency medicine since 1989. 

Still active in emergency medicine at Northside Gwinnett hospital, Dr Cohen first opened Balance Bodies Anti-aging clinics in 2017 with his colleague Tim Carrega, NP.

After 2 successful clinics in Lawrenceville and Sandy springs, Dr Cohen is proud to open up his third clinic in Decatur.

Dr Cohen appreciates the value of exercise, eating habits, and supplemental therapies to increase longevity and improve quality of life. He truly believes Balanced Bodies is an excellent avenue to achieve those goals.

Lauren Wilkinson, NP-C:

Lauren Wilkinson, NP-C grew up in Gulf Breeze, Florida and received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Prior to going on to complete her Nurse Practitioner degree, Lauren worked in the Arnold Luterman Burn Center Intensive Care Unit in Mobile, Alabama, and after moving to the state of Georgia gained experience in the Emergency Department, Long-range flight nursing, and Post-Anesthesia Care. Lauren obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing- Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner at South University in Savannah, Georgia. Lauren received her Nurse Practitioner accrediation from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Lauren has experience in weight loss care, hormone replacement therapy, peri-operative care, aesthetics and women’s health, and most recently was the lead provider for weight loss care at a well-known clinic in the Atlanta Area.
Lauren currently resides in Northeast Georgia with her husband and three small children, Noah, Leah, and Ella. Her family includes two pet dogs named Lady and Bobo, and a saltwater aquarium.  She enjoys camping, reading, heirloom sewing, and collecting antique china.

Tina Kappler

After working in the corporate world for 12 years, Tina decided to pursue her dream and  go back to school to become a Paramedic.  She graduated EMT school at Lanier Tech as Advanced EMT in 2015.  Beginning at  Gwinnett County Fire as a Firemedic recruit in 2016, she gained Paramedic license in 2017 and began working as a Paramedic at Gwinnett Medical Center (now Northside Gwinnett) ER. She  worked at GMC for 3 years full time until the pandemic hit and decided to spread her wings and began working on TV/Film sets doing COVID testing for the last 2 years as well as continuing to work in the ER.    In 2022 Tina was diagnosed with Cancer and began her journey to recovery.  This meant a job change.  

Newest member of  the Balanced Bodies team, Tina has grown to truly understand the value of wellness through diet, vitamins and other modalities employed at Balanced Bodies.  She is excited to join the team of Dr. Cohen and Tim to grow with the clinics.
